March to May and October to November are usually the most comfortable. Summers are famously hot and humid; winter can be misty, which suits the city’s cinematic atmosphere.

Allow two city days plus a separate long day for Wulong. Comfortable shoes, realistic stair expectations and traffic-aware sequencing matter more here than in flatter Chinese cities.
High-speed rail links Chongqing with Chengdu and Guiyang, while the airport serves major domestic routes. Yangtze cruises also begin or end in the wider municipality.

How many days should I spend in Chongqing?+
Two full days introduce the city’s layered urban character and food. Add one day for Wulong or more time if beginning a Yangtze journey.
Is Chongqing suitable for wheelchair users?+
Selected riverfronts, modern districts and viewpoints can be adapted, but steep streets and level changes require detailed route verification. Wulong’s core walking routes are not fully accessible.
Is Chongqing only about hotpot?+
No. Hotpot is culturally important, but local noodles, river history, wartime heritage, modern infrastructure and neighbourhood life give the city much broader interest.
